Festive Thank You

Once again the Parish Council would like to thank Mrs Gladys Wood for providing not just the Oxspring Christmas tree but also the electricity to light it. We must also thank those that help every year in putting up the tree.

Village Survey

Thank you to everyone who completed and returned their village survey regarding a new building on the playingfield. From the results which were returned the majority of residents were very much in support of a new community building. I would however like to ask all those residents who have not yet returned their surveys to please return them to Oxspring Post Office as soon as possible as it is very important that they do so.

Trustees Required

As you are aware the Parish Council is supporting a proposed new building on the playingfield. This building would not be run by the Parish Council but by a completely separate board of trustees representing all areas and aspect of the village. If you feel that you would like to be come a trustee of a new Community Building in Oxspring, please contact the clerk.

Dog Fouling

I deeply regret that this issue must once again rear its ugly head but the fact remains that the problem does still very much exist. The Parish Council has received yet more complaints regarding dog fouling on the Village Green and on the footpaths in the village. Doggie bins are provided throughout the village so please do make sure you use them. Barnsley Council will be monitoring the situation and fines will be issued to those who offend. Please call the following number if you witness anyone allowing their dog to foul in a public place. Tel: 01226 772540

Oxspring Planter Competition

Following the success of last year, it has been decided that this is to be an annual event. This year there will be 3 prizes. 1st Prize - £30, 2nd Prize - £20, and 3rd Prize - £10. There is a sum of up to £20 available per planter if required to reimburse for any plants purchased. This reimbursement will be made only if receipts have been obtained as proof of purchase.
The competition will be judged in the first two weeks of September, the judges are still to be confirmed. I wish you all the best of luck and am sure that you will produce some magnificent planters, as you have done in previous years.
